PennEngineering Fastening Technologies (Europe) Ltd

PennEngineering is a multinational engineering company which designs and manufactures fasteners. it has facilities in Danboro, Pennsylvania, US; Winston Salem, North Carolina, US, Kunchan, Shanghai, China and Galway, Ireland.  The company was founded by K.A. Swanstrom in 1942 who designed and produced a revolutionary easy-to-install, self-clinching fastener.  This innovative system of metal fastening, i.e., self-clinch, was applied to a wide variety of fastening components such as nuts, studs and stand-offs.  There was a need for such a product for panels which were too thin to be tapped for screw threads.  These were found not only to reduce labour time in assembly, but also made it possible, for the first time, to assemble a variety of thin metal joint designs.  Although many of these designs originated during the Second World War and shortly afterwards, they are still in use today.

Today, PEM Europe has approximately 130 employess, including the European Sales group, and has total manufacturing facility size of 165,000 square foot with cold forming and cold heading machinery, 2 heat treatment furnaces and an electro-plating line, in addition to the large number of screw cutting machinery.
